LOCAL software developer CAZ Software has beaten international competition to win a $A1 million contract to supply an integrated school management system in Hong Kong.

LOCAL software developer CAZ Software has beaten international competition to win a $A1 million contract to supply an integrated school management system in Hong Kong.

The Leederville-based company hopes the deal will create a significant reference site and lead to new opportunities in the Asian region.

Under the terms of the deal, CAZ Software will provide its Maze software to upgrade the English Schools Foundation (ESF) existing Student and Financial Information Systems and integrate it into a centralised system.

ESF is a non-profit organisation and Hong Kong’s principal provider of private English education.

It incorporates 16 individual schools including five secondary schools, 10 primary schools and one special needs school in Hong Kong.

CAZ Software beat four other international organisations that had been invited to tender a software system to meet ESF’s specific requirements.

CAZ Software marketing manager Sarah Zahra said the Hong Kong deal was an important and significant step for the company.

Ms Zahra said the deal to supply ESF with Maze would provide an ideal reference site in the Asian region.

The software would be rolled out through ESF schools network in the first quarter of this year, she said.

“Once those sites are up and running, we are hoping to start a fairly hefty campaign in the Asian region,” Ms Zahra said.

She said that, because the software incorporated financial capabilities based on Australian accounting standards, the Asian region, which has similar standards, was an ideal starting point for overseas expansion.

CAZ Software has more than 3,000 clients in Australia and about 20 overseas.

Maze software is used by a number of educational institutions in Australia and overseas, including Victoria’s Department of Education and Training, Queensland’s Catholic Education Offices, and the International Business and Technology Group in India, the UK and Kenya.
