US-BASED Resource Capital Funds plans to run a new Australian operation out of Perth after coaxing investment banker Ian Burvill away from NM Rothschild & Sons to head the new operation.
Mr Burvill confirmed he had quit his associate directorship at Rothschild where he had worked for the past nine years to establish a local office for the Denver-headquartered group.
He said the boutique investment house specialising in mining had recently launched its second fund after fully investing its first raising of about $US40 million.
“We have just raised a second fund of $US82 million and we are in the process of investing that worldwide,” Mr Burvill said.
“The reason for setting up is to access investment opportunities in the Australian market.”
