Brockman Resources has today appointed Ausenco as its lead study manager for the definitive feasibility study for its Marillan iron ore project in the Pilbara.
Ausenco recently completed the pre-feasibility study for the project, estimating capital costs at $1.3 billion.
The study work for the DFS will start immediately and integrate the results from the extensive resource development and metallurgical testwork program carried out by Brockman.
"Brockman is pleased to continue our association with Ausenco and, with their vast process technology experience, we look forward to building on the financially and technically positive outcomes delivered in the recently completed PFS for the Marillana Iron Ore Project," managing director Wayne Richards said.
The DFS will focus on increasing the certainty and accuracy of the engineering and cost estimate for the final processing flow sheet and process plant configuration; mining methodology and equipment selection; and the process support infrastructure.
The final DFS report is forecasted to be completed in Q3 2010.
