Boutique firm

FORMER Minter Ellison partners Sean Mullins and Matthew Handcock have formed a boutique insurance firm Mullins Handcock and been joined by nine other former Minter Ellison staff.

Mr Mullins who is also Australian Insurance Institute president said there was pressure in some large firms to charge insurance clients at rates equivalent to those being charged to corporate and commercial clients.

“Insurance companies just don’t accept this,” Mr Mullins said.

“We are aware of a major firm in the eastern states who ignored their insurance practice and are now solely regretting it.”
