Bond watch. Hot from the back streets of Cottesloe come reports that our Alan is working on his first property deal since leaving the comforts of Karnet.
According to moderately reliable sources, Al wants to buy houses adjoining the new pad he is building in Warnham Street, just up from the Cottesloe hotel.
Not content with a two-storey Tuscan villa, Al wants more space. Last week he opened discussions with a neighbour, saying he was very serious about his interest.
The neighbour was somewhat surprised, listened politely, but had this nagging question in the back of her mind: “Aren’t you bankrupt, Mr Bond?”.
The answer to that question is no. Mr Bond is not bankrupt, but it would be very, very surprising if he has a spare $1 million in his back pocket to pick up the odd Cottesloe property.
Then again, perhaps it is not surprising. Maybe a friend really has kept a bit of the stolen loot for Al to rebuild.
Take care Alan, throwing around cash so soon after leaving jail might be embarrassing for your friends.
