Board Moves: John Gillam, Kim Horne

Former Bunnings managing director John Gillam has been named as the incoming chairman of building products company CSR while Macmahon Holdings has bolstered its board by recruiting former Alcoa of Australia executive Kim Horne.

Melbourne-based Mr Gillam joined the CSR board in December last year and will succeed current chairman Jeremy Sutcliffe at the company’s annual meeting in June.

He left Bunnings at the end of 2016, after 12 years as managing director and 20 years with parent company Wesfarmers.

Mr Gillam was a 40under40 award winner in 2003.

His other positions are in the not-for-profit sector and include chairing private company BlueFit and being a director of the Clontarf Foundation and the Heartwell Foundation.

Meanwhile, mining contractor Macmahon has appointed Mr Horne as an independent non-executive director.

His most recent roles at Alcoa were as executive director of Alcoa of Australia and president of its global mining centre.

Mr Horne is also deputy chair of electricity generator and retailer Synergy.

Chairman Jim Walker said Mr Horne’s knowledge and experience across a variety of sectors would enhance the Macmahon board.
