Blackham Resources has achieved first production at its Matilda gold mine near Wiluna, four months after receiving final approvals.
Perth-based Blackham announced today it had poured its first gold at the 5.1 million ounce project, with a ramp-up to commercial production expected soon.
“The town of Wiluna has a long and significant mining history and the Matilda gold project will benefit all stakeholders,” managing director Bryan Dixon said in a statement.
Chief operations officer Alan Thom said Blackham was pleased to have achieved first production just 16 months after completing its funding deal with Orion Mine Finance.
The company will now focus on increasing production to between 175,000 and 230,000 ounces of gold per annum.
Blackham shares were 0.7 per cent lower to 70.5 cents each at midday.
