WORK is expected to start before September on the $16 million Bijou Marina Village near Busselton.
Already pre-sales are worth more than $5 million, representing 60 per cent of stage one of the project with ten residences sold. The seventeen unit first stage is expected to be finished within twelve months of construction starting.
Project developer Monteath Properties managing director Bruce Monteath said there was a continuing strong local demand for South West properties – particularly those close to the water.
“Escalating prices for properties in the area, especially at the upper end of the market, make weekend retreats a sound investment,” Mr Monteath said.
“This is a reflection of the Australia-wide trend occurring in areas such as Noosa in Queensland, Byron Bay in New South Wales and Portsea in Victoria as the ‘baby boomer’ surge in leisure spending continues.”
The $16 million Bijou development is about two hours’ drive from Perth and is located on a three acre strip of land between the marina and the beach.
On completion, Bijou Marine Village will have thirty-six holiday residences each with water frontage.
These will range in size from 125 square metres to 206 square metres and in price from $385,000 to $800,000.
