THERE were few surprises among the top 10 leading names in WA Business News’s 2003 branding survey. From insurance to hardware to a casino, the State’s top brands represent high-profile companies from vastly differing industries. But while the industries may be varied, WA’s top brands have one thing in common – advertising, marketing and promotion spends in the millions.
The list of brand names has been compiled from a survey of WA’s advertising industry.
The survey was sent to the top 20 advertising agencies as compiled in WA Business News’s 2003 Book of Lists.
Each industry representative was asked to list WA’s top 10 brands in order of preference in two separate lists – their top 10 brands that are agency clients and their top 10 brands that were not agency clients.
Votes were weighted and an overall top 10 list compiled.
But it didn’t stop there. The industry was also asked to list emerging WA brands.
Brands to rank highly were Jesters Jaffle Pie Company and Palandri Wines. There was also a long list of potential brands on the way up to market prominence and/or dominance.
In this four-page feature, Julie-anne Sprague looks at ways to create a successful emerging brand, profiles Jesters Jaffle Pie Company’s leap to retail heights, and takes a look at some of WA’s leading brand names.
