Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union secretary Jock Ferguson, Perth solicitor Sarah Burke (daughter of former WA premier Brian Burke), Shelly Archer (partner of CFMEU boss Kevin Reynolds), Sharryn Jackson (former federal member for Hasluck) and Sally Talbot (MLC for the South West) are all tipped to be in the running for the role from which Michele Roberts will be retiring.
30-year-old Perth IR solicitor Ms Burke is also president of the Scarborough/Karrinyup ALP sub-branch and along with Ms Archer was believed to have also run for the federal Labor presidency. Ms Jackson held Hasluck for one term until she lost to Stuart Henry.
