Foodservice distributor Bidfood has lodged plans to build a new $16.5 million warehouse in Malaga to support its growing operations in the Perth metropolitan area.

Foodservice distributor Bidfood has lodged plans to build a new $16.5 million warehouse in Malaga to support its growing operations in the Perth metropolitan area.

The application, lodged by consultancy Dynamic Planning and Developments on behalf of Bidfood Australia, has sought approval to demolish an existing warehouse at the site to make way for a 7,850 square metre industrial premises fit with food storage, processing equipment, offices and a distribution facility.

The purpose-built facility is earmarked for a 22,131 square metre lot on Crocker Drive in Malaga’s industrial area and will have a maximum on-site occupancy of 86 people, including 74 employees.

The City of Swan has recommended the Metro Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel approve the plans when it meets to consider them next week.

The proponent, Bidfood Australia, is a subsidiary of South African-based services, trading, and distribution company Bidcorp Group.

The company has five branches across Western Australia, including Bibra Lake, Osborne Park, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, and Broome, and more than 40 locations nationwide.
