Bennett family buys Freo office

The Bennett family has bought a building in Fremantle’s marine precinct from international defence company L3Harris Technologies for $4.18 million.

The 1,400 square metre building at 108 Marine Terrace sits on a 1,505sqm site and was sold after 18 years of ownership.

RP Data records show Cayman Islands-registered entity Benedictus Ptc Ltd, run from AMB Holding’s Subiaco office, as the buyer.

Benedictus Ptc Ltd’s directors are listed as reclusive billionaire Angela Bennett, her sons Todd and Paul Bennett, AMB Holdings finance executive David McMahon and US-based Peter Alan Evans.

Ms Bennett’s private company AMB Holdings earns multi-million-dollar dividends from its 50 per cent stake in Wright Prospecting, and is believed to have a portfolio in excess of $1 billion.

Ms Bennett’s late father, Peter Wright, was the business partner of iron ore pioneer Lang Hancock.

AMB Holdings also owns boat storage facility Blue HQ, which is just 200 metres from the Marine Terrace property, at 10 Mews Road.

L3Harris sold the Marine Terrace asset after it moved to a government-owned building at 4 Mews Road, where marine services company TAMS Group was located.

A US-headquartered defence communications group, L3Harris spent about $2 million on a new fitout for the 4 Mews Road building, which it moved into in May.

L3Harris also owned two other properties nearby, including 20 Mews Road.  

L3Harris Technologies managing director Eve Clark recently told Business News the move to its new premises coincided with the company’s growth.

“We would’ve had to get a fourth building for new people, so we found this one,” she said.

The L3Harris Perth team has doubled to 200 people since 2019.
