Bedshed’s Queensland expansion

JOYCE Corporation has announced that its 49 per cent-owned furniture business, Bedshed, will expand into Queensland after it signed an agreement to acquire the Mattress Discounters business. The deal will add eight stores to the Bedshed operation nationally. Established in WA in 1980, Bedshed is considered the state’s largest specialist bedroom retailer and the third biggest in Australia. It has 18 stores in WA and in 2003 expanded into the Victorian market and now has nine stores in regional and metropolitan areas along with one other in South Australia. Joyce has also announced the sale of its foam businesses following the signing of an agreement with Indian-based Sheela Foam Private Limited. The business will become a wholly-owned Australian subsidiary of Sheela Foam Private, to be known as Joyce Foam.
