Visitors to the City Beach foreshore in the near future may be surprised to discover a new cafe/restaurant for their entertainment.
This follows the unveiling of plans by the Town of Cambridge which has invited expressions of interest for developers to build and operate an oceanside upmarket cafe/restaurant.
The site is located off Challenger Parade, just north of Oceanic Drive on City Beach, winner of Perth’s Best Beach Award in 1999. It will be the only restaurant on the coast between Cottesloe and Trigg.
A 21 year ground lease with a further five year option is offered over an area up to 1,500 square metres.
Town of Cambridge chief executive officer Graham Partridge said the objective was to provide an attractive facility to beach users as well as serving as a destination in its own right.
“As part of the project, the Town of Cambridge will replace the existing, aging kiosk and public change rooms,” he said. “Future beachgoers will be able to enjoy modern, upgraded facilities.”
Expressions of interest are being handled through commercial real estate agent Knight Frank.
Knight Frank agent Barry Toms said: “It’s rare for such a development site to be offered in Perth, particularly with the opportunity to build on such a prime beachfront location.”
