Barnett keeps the faith over Inpex

Premier Colin Barnett remains optimistic that Inpex may change its mind over the location of its $15 billion liquefied natural gas project after meeting with the company's senior executives.

ABC radio reported Mr Barnett as saying Western Australia was still in with a chance to host the project despite the company already choosing Darwin late last year.

Mr Barnett, who is on a four-day trip in Japan, said the company appeared to be very interested in the latest state government developments for an LNG precinct, with James Price Point chosen as the preferred site.

James Price Point is 60 kilometres north of Broome.

Last year, Inpex chose Darwin ahead of WA for the construction of an LNG facility to process gas from the Ichthys field.
