Osborne Park-based Barbaro Homes has entered liquidation, a week after it ceased operations.

Kim Wallman from HLB Mann Judd Insolvency WA was appointed liquidator for the builder, which was founded in 2011.

Mr Wallman said the factors behind the liquidation were common for many companies of its size in the industry.

“It was typical of small builders, had a couple of jobs on the go, the margins were too tight and they just couldn’t keep going,” he said.

Mr Wallman said Barbaro had nearly completed the two projects it was involved in before it was placed into liquidation.

Barbaro had five employees.

The builder’s revenue for the 2015-2016 financial year was $4.6 million, just two years prior to that it was $2.4 million.

Founder Jospeh Barbaro was the 40under40 award winner in the small or startup business category.

He worked as a cabinetmaker and bricklayer before he founded the company.
