BHP Billiton’s new boss Andrew Mackenzie has shaken up the global miner’s leadership group, with petroleum boss Michael Yeager leaving the company but Perth-based iron ore president Jimmy Wilson and new nickel boss Daniel Malchuk joining an expanded group management committee. The size of the GMC has been expanded from 8 to 11 people, with new members like Mr Wilson now reporting direct to the chief executive. Mr Malchuk, who was previously president of the minerals exploration unit, also assumes responsibility for the assets that form part of the aluminium, manganese and nickel businesses, from 10 May.
