BGC expands in SW

BGC Australia – WA’s largest new home building company _ has announced major expansion plans for the company in the South West.

BGC Housing director Julian Ambrose said the company hoped to capitalise on the growing demand for new homes in the region, with the new homes market in the area already exceeding $400 million annually.

The South West is poised to become a major centre of new housing activity in the next decade as the population in the area is expected to increase by over 23,000 people to a projected 142,200 people by 2011.

“The BGC Group has been assessing the long term economic trends in the South West over the past two years and have made a strategic decision to undertake a major commitment to the area in the coming decade,” Mr Ambrose said.

“As a result, we have now relocated three of our housing divisions in the Bunbury area covering all levels of the housing market – Housing Innovations for first home buyers, National Homes for second home buyers and Statesman Homes for the second and third home market.”

The strong demand for housing is reflected in a buoyant real estate market.

The median price of a house in Bunbury during the past twelve months increased 7.2 per cent compared to a rise of 5.4 per cent in the Perth market.

“For many years, house prices in the South West where significantly below the Perth metropolitan area,” Mr Ambrose said.

However, as the economy has expanded so has the demand for quality new homes.

BGC also plans to build a number of new display homes in the coming year.

“Overall, this decision represents a major financial commitment by BGC Housing in the South West and represents a vote of confidence in the long term prospects of the region,” he said.
