Golden Gecko Awards Nominations can be submitted for activities including innovation, community involvement and public awareness, exploration, waste management, employee awareness, and prospecting. In 2002, Alcoa World Alumina, LionOre Nickel and the Esperance Port Authority won Golden Geckos. Certificates of merit were awarded to Woodside Energy, and a joint nomination from Simcoa Operations and consultant Sally Robinson of Strategic Environmental Solutions. WA Youth Awards The categories for these awards are: Leadership (John Curtin Leadership Award, sponsor Curtin University of Technology); Citizenship (sponsor Woodside Energy Ltd); Environment (sponsor Department of Conservation and Land Management); Inspiration (sponsor WA Lotteries Commission /Leeuwin Ocean Adventures); and Active Achievement (sponsor Iluka Resources Limited). Entries are open to Western Australians aged between 13 and 25 years, and nominations can be made on an individual basis, through secondary schools and other organisations, or via existing youth award programs, including those conducted by the Lions Club, Silver Chain, and Rotary. Nomination forms are available from 9476 2000, for entries which are due February 28.
