Award for Hames Sharley

ARCHITECTURE firm Hames Sharley was recognised at this year’s Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall WA Innovation & Excellence Awards for its work on 100 St Georges Terrace/Enex100.

Owned and developed by ISPT Super Property, 100 St Georges Terrace is a mixed-use development situated between the Hay Street Mall and St Georges Terrace and is linked via a retail podium.

The commercial component of the building comprises a 24-storey office tower, which contains larger than normal floor plates to accommodate the future growth of tenants.

The building was awarded the Rider Levett Bucknall Award for best commercial development, the under 10,000 square metre winner, and the excellence in retail development overall winner award, recognising design, commercial and environmental excellence.

Hames Sharley Director Dean van Niekerk said the building underwent a rigorous planning and design process.

“Not only did the development have to respond to the historic context of the site and attract future tenants, the building was designed in a way so that it would play an important role in the re-activation of the Hay Street Mall and St Georges Terrace,” he said.

These awards mark the eighth Property Council of Australia win for Hames Sharley, which has also received recognition for projects such as UWA’s Biomedical Research Facility and Garden City Booragoon.

The Property Council of Australia Retail Property of the Year Award for 2011 was awarded to Belmont Forum Shopping Centre, owned by Perron Investments.

Other award winners included MTU Detroit Diesel, owned by Goodman Property Services, CeVue Scarborough Beach, owned by Cape Bouvard Investments and The Eco Collection – Terrace Residents, owned by Mirvac (WA).
