Automotive chain to go online

WA-BASED auto accessories and car servicing company Marlows is moving into the online world.

It is setting up two sites – a Marlows-branded electronic commerce facility and an independent motoring “lifestyle” portal called The Internet move comes less than a year after the company opened two stores in Victoria at Broadmeadows and Epping under the Marlows name.

The company also has four stores in South Australia. It took over the Rocca Bros group in 1995 and trades under that name there.

Marlows chairman Ray Della-Polina said the move into Victoria had been successful as both stores opened in time to capitalise on the Christmas trade.

“The figures from both Victoria branches are growing at a rate we would expect from new WA stores but with less promotion and advertising activity,” Mr Della-Polina said.

“There has been some frustration in acquiring further sites in Victoria but we are looking at adding a third outlet at Werribee before the end of the year.

“Our target is to average four new store rollouts per year.”

The company, which started in City Arcade 23 years ago, now has 17 stores Australia-wide.
