Hosted by IDP Education and the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA), the 2006 Australian International Education Conference is from October 10 to 13 at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre. The theme for the conference, which is expected to attract up to 1000 delegates from around the world, is ‘It’s about the students’. The four day event includes a range of presentations and workshops on topics such as Perth as a major hub for international education, professional development, policy and innovation. Guest speakers include: • Don Watson – distinguished writer and public speaker, and former speechwriter and adviser to PM Paul Keating; • Tony Jones from ABC’s Lateline; • Jimmy Pham – founder and director of Know One Teach One in Hanoi; and • Misha Ketchell – editor of independent online media service Crikey.
