Australand starts at Port Coogee

AFTER 10 years of delays in development approvals, one of the biggest coastal residential renewal projects ever undertaken in Australia is under way, with work beginning this week on Australand’s Port Coogee development. The development of Port Coogee is valued at more than $700 million, but the impact on the local community is estimated to run in excess of $1 billion over 20 years. The project will provide more than 700 direct jobs during construction, with a further 500 indirect jobs and 200 full-time jobs once complete. As well as a 700 lot residential estate, the development will create a 300 public pen marina.Australand WA general manager Chris Lewis said Port Coogee would set the standard for coastal development in Western Australia and would be the catalyst for the total transformation of the Cockburn coastal strip.
