Henderson-based shipbuilder Austal has won four packages of work on littoral combat ships for the US Navy, worth a combined $US5 million ($A7 million).

In a brief statement, Austal said the shakedown availability contracts involved engineering and management services for the development of bridge wings and berthing for two LCS vessels for the US Navy.

It follows news last month that the shipbuilder had won a $305 million contract to build and maintain up to 21 Pacific patrol boats for the Australian government.

Austal shares were unchanged at $1.30 each at 10am.
