WA-based construction engineering company AusGroup has secured a 10-year maintenance contract with Chevron Australia.
Western Australia-based construction engineering company AusGroup has secured a 10-year maintenance contract with Chevron Australia, the longest contract to be awarded in the country’s oil and gas market.
AusGroup subsidiary AGC Industries will provide full-service asset maintenance across the company’s onshore and offshore gas and oil production facilities in the north-west over the next decade, including planning, scheduling and supervision, painting insulation, fireproofing, scaffolding, workshop management, asset management, crane operation, and maintenance.
The company did not disclose the value of the contract, but confirmed the agreement would lift its order book above $1 billion and facilitate the recruitment of between 300 and 500 new planning and execution staff.
In a statement released by the company this morning, AusGroup chief executive officer and managing director Shane Kimpton said the contract was a substantial achievement for the company and a testament to its ability to safely and efficiently deliver services.
“This contract is a substantial achievement for AusGroup and confirms our proven track-record, integrity, ability and financial capacity to deliver certainty of outcome which has been central to our performance over the years,” he said.
“Furthermore, this contract represents a significant strategic milestone for our business, firmly positioning us as a leader and Tier 1 contractor in end-to-end asset maintenance program delivery for oil and gas assets.
“We have heavily invested in our business and our people, ensuring we have the technical know-how and expertise, multidisciplinary maintenance proficiency and capacity to deliver on oil and natural gas asset maintenance scope of this scale.
“We remain committed to providing local jobs and opportunities for Australians and are particularly pleased to confirm we expect to recruit somewhere in the vicinity of 300 – 500 new planning and execution staff positions during the life of the contract.”
The integrated services provider offers services from maintenance and construction through to commissioning and handover, with operations based in WA, Victoria and Northern Territory.
AGC has worked with Chevron previously, securing a contract for the maintenance shutdown of train one at Chevron’s Gorgon LNG project in 2019.
