THE Australian Hotels Association has backed a Department of Consumer and Environmental Protection’s compliance audit into Award wages, rejecting the criticism of the crackdown by the Restaurant and Caterers Association. AHA executive director Bradley Woods said complaints about the department campaign ignored the fact that many restaurants were complying with the Award.
“I think the vast majority of restaurants set the right example by adhering to the award, and I am quite frankly surprised that the Restaurant and Caterers Association have come out in support of a minority of restaurants who have been recalcitrant,” he said.
