Recent appointees to SRK Consulting’s Perth office include Nick Brett, Sjoerd Duim, Zakhir Osman, and Esther Theron.
Mr Brett, who has been appointed as a geotechnical consultant, has been in Perth with Golder Associates for five years, but originally came from the UK.
There he worked on civil projects, including the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Heathrow Terminal Five site investigations and a main sewer upgrade for the Dover and Folkestone Council.
Keen to move towards a mining focus, Mr Brett’s subsequent experience has included the assessment, monitoring and management of open pit designs.
Mr Duim, who has moved to SRK from GRD Minproc, was formerly a senior resource evaluation engineer with both Anglo American Corporation and De Beers Consolidated Mines in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
In WA, he has worked on pit optimisation, production scheduling and blending analysis for the West Angelas iron ore project.
Mr Duim, who is a principal mining engineer with SRK, says clients are increasingly requiring major risk assessment information, and competitive methods for bulk underground mining.
Mr Osman has joined SRK as a mining engineer consultant from Maptek.
Previously he was with Macmahons at the Gibraltar underground mine in Meekatharra.
Mr Osman’s specialty is in the application of Vulcan software for total mine design.
Ms Theron has transferred from SRK’s Capetown office as a geotechnical consultant.
She was previously in SRK’s largest office in Johannesburg.
With qualifications in civil engineering, geology and applied mathematics, Ms Theron has developed experience in both civil and mining projects, and has worked on operations in several African nations, the US, India, and Mongolia.
