Pragma Lawyers has appointed Lydia Litton as an associate. Ms Litton comes from Johnson Winter & Slattery where she graduated and worked as a law clerk before she was hired as an associate in 2015. Prior to that, she was a critical care registered nurse at Princess Margaret Hospital for three years and at Sydney Children’s Hospital for two years.
Fitness software company MyFiziq has appointed William Bradford as the new head of business development for its USA operations. Mr Bradford was the senior vice president of digital media for Fox Broadcasting Company from 2007 to 2014 and more recently was the chief digital officer at Beachbody LLC for five years. Prior to that, he was vice president at Yahoo Inc for two years.
The Law Society of Western Australia has appointed vice president Nicholas van Hattem as its president for 2020. Mr Hattem is a barrister at Francis Burt Chambers and the director of the Piddington Justice Project at The Piddington Society, where he also served as a convener for six years. Prior to that, he was an assistant state solicitor at the State Solicitor’s Office in WA for five years.
Mineral exploration company DevEx Resources has appointed Chris Torrey to the role of chief geologist in New South Wales. Mr Torrey has worked as a consulting geologist for CTEX Consulting for the past eight months and before that served as managing director at Silver City Minerals from 2010 to February 2019. He is the former chairman and director of exploration at Golden Cross Resources in Hornsby.
Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ben Wyatt has appointed twelve Indigenous Australian from a diversity of regions to the Aboriginal Advisory Council. They are Gail Beck, Daniel Brown, Merle Carter, Linda Dridi, Jonathan Ford, Corina Martin, Vicki O’Donnell, Gail Reynolds-Adamson, Peter Riley, Marty Sibosado and Peter Yu, and the reappointment of Gordon Gray.
Global engineering company SNC-Lavalin has appointed Michael Dunne as senior vice president of Resources for the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific while Perth-based Joseph McCormick will lead its first Resources business in the Asia Pacific, as part of a company restructure. Mr McCormick was the senior project manager and head of construction and commissioning at Origin Energy for more than six years. Most recently, he was responsible for the project and engineering delivery at WorleyParsons WA business unit which included oil and gas, mining and metals and petrochemical portfolios.
The City of Busselton has announced the appointments of Phill Cronin, Sue Riccelli, Kate Cox and Jo Barrett-Lennard, and reappointments of Ross Paine and Paul Carter as councillors. They will serve alongside Grant Henley, Lyndon Miles and Kelly Hick who were not up for re-election this year. Mr Henley was elected mayor unopposed, while Mr Paine and Ms Hick were nominated for deputy mayor, with Ms Hick securing the position six votes to two.
Uranium explorer and producer Marenica Energy has appointed Jessica Bezuidenhout, Berti Roesener and David Princep to its senior management team operating out of Namibia. Ms Bezuidenhout is an environmental scientist with 13 years’ exploration and mining experience in Australia, where she most recently served as a human resource manager at Capgemini in Sydney. Mr Roesener is a geologist with over 33 years’ exploration and mining experience in Namibia, including as mineral resource manager at Swakop Uranium for seven years. Mr Princep, also a geologist, served as principal geologist at Paladin Energy from 2006 to 2008, and more recently at RPM Global for nearly two years.
Mount Gibson Iron will appoint experienced mining executive Mark Mitchell as chief operating officer following the retirement of Scott de Kruijff after six years of service to the company. Mr Mitchell was most recently the executive general manager at Mineral Resources’ Wodgina lithium mine in the Pilbara. Prior to that, he was the vice president of operations at Ambatovy joint-venture in Madagascar for three years, and the chief executive of Blackthorn Resources in Sydney for one year.
Iron ore explorer Strike Resources has appointed Wayne Richards and Shankar Madan to its management team for the Paulsens East iron ore project in the Pilbara. Mr Richards was the managing director for Nedlands-based Brockman Resources for more than five years. More recently, he was the executive director at Minprovise International for more than three years. Mr Madan was previously the managing director of Strike Resources from 2005 to 2010, and chairman for one year.
The Fremantle Chamber of Commerce has added three representatives to the board at its 146th annual general meeting: they are Natasha Atkinson, Nick Gvozdin and Pete Adams. Ms Atkinson is the chief executive of Fremantle Markets, where she has served in the role for seven years. Mr Gvozdin has been the director at Frichot and Frichot lawyers for the past 11 year, while Mr Adams is the director of Yolk Property Group, having served in the role for more than six years.
