Aboriginal Affairs and Lands Minister Ben Wyatt has announced Glen Kelly as the new chair of the Aboriginal Lands Trust (ALT). Mr Kelly is a director at KPMG Consulting, and the former chief executive of the National Native Title Council and the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council. He is currently a member of the Reconciliation Australia board.
Southern Seafood Producers WA Association (SSPWA) has announced the appointment of Matt Benson-Lidholm as its new chair. Mr Benson-Lidholm is the former deputy president and chairman of committees in the State’s Legislative Council, having represented both the South West and agricultural regions. He is based in Albany as a JP, regional development consultant and patron of non-for-profit groups including Albany Historical Society.
Parkerville Children and Youth Care has appointed community service specialist Kim Brooklyn to the role of chief executive officer. Ms Brooklyn was a psychologist and consultant at Indigenous Psychological Services for nine years and more recently served as a deputy chief executive, chief operating officer and executive manager of strengthening communities at UnitingCare West from 2013 to 2017.
UnitingCare West has appointed Erica Haddon as its new chair after Peter Fitzpatrick stepped down from the role in August. Ms Haddon is currently the chief executive of her own advisory business Navigating Innovation and has been a director at Anglicare WA since 2011. She also worked in various executive general manager roles at RAC WA from 2009 to 2018.
Regional development minister Alannah MacTiernan has announced the appointment of Mellisa Teede as chief executive officer of the South West Development Commission. Ms Teede has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector, including as chief executive at the Peel development commission from 2012 to 2015 and more recently as a senior policy advisor for senator Louise Pratt.
Mineral explorer Comet Resources has added Evan Kirby to its team for metallurgical testwork for the Springdale graphite project in southern Western Australia, where Mr Kirby will design and manage all testwork programs. He has over 40 years of experience in the mining sector, including as a metallurgist at Metallurgical Management Services in Gidgegannup since 2002.
Matsa Resources has appointed Tim Wither to the role of mine manager at its Fortitude open pit gold mine. Mr Wither was mining manager at Avanco Resources’ greenfield mine in Brazil from 2015 to 2017 and became chief executive at Symbol Mining last April. Matsa has also appointed Don Harper to the role of alternate mine manager at its Red October underground mine. Mr Harper was chief operating officer at Sumatra Copper and Gold from 2012 to 2016 and served as chief executive at Kin Mining until 2018.
Architecture and design firm HASSELL has announced the appointment of its senior associate Polly Gee as practice leader of interior design. Ms Gee has led a number of high profile workplaces in Australia including Clayton Utz, Rio Tinto and WALGA. She was an interior designer at Bates Smart in Melbourne and at Johnson Naylor in London before joining HASSELL in 2012.
Digital Wine Ventures has appointed Richard Van Ruth and Anna Donald to its Wine Depot executive team. Mr Van Ruth has worked for Adelaide’s Edinburgh Cellars and with DiGiorgio Family Wines in Coonawarra. More recently, he founded a B2B marketplace that connects boutique wineries with a range of sales channels. Ms Donald worked for international wine merchant Laithwaite’s and spent three years in supply chain management for Adhesif Labels before joining GraysOnline in 2017.
