Former WA minister Bill Johnston has been appointed chair of the Freight and Logistics Council of Western Australia, succeeding Megan McCracken after four years in the role. Mr Johnston will provide strategic advice on issues affecting the state's freight and logistics sector. A former Mines and Energy Minister, he recently joined the McKell Institute to lead its Western Australian expansion and also serves on the organisation's federal board.
Former WA finance minister Dean Nalder has been appointed chair of Perth-based energy storage company AVESS Energy. Mr Nalder, who previously served as a non-executive director, takes on the role as the company prepares a submission for the proposed Kalgoorlie Vanadium Battery Energy Storage System. He brings experience across government, banking and infrastructure, and currently holds board positions with DevelopmentWA, The Perth Mint and South Fremantle Football Club.
Centurion chief executive Justin Cardaci will step down after 12 years leading the transport and logistics company. CFC Group general manager Michael West has been appointed interim chief executive while the board searches for a permanent replacement. Mr West has served on Centurion’s advisory board for seven years and has worked closely with the company’s leadership team. Mr Cardaci will remain involved during the transition period before taking a break.
