Alana Padmanabham has been appointed as a magistrate and will sit in the Children’s Court in Perth. Ms Padmanabham was admitted to practice in Western Australia in February 2005 and has more than 15 years of experience in civil litigation, personal injury and criminal law. She founded criminal law practice AP Legal. She is a Commissioner of Legal Aid WA and a committee member of Women Lawyers of Western Australia, and highly regarded in the legal profession.
Remote operations and space technology consortium AROSE has appointed Leanne Cunnold as chief executive. Ms Cunnold previously held senior executive roles at Schneider Electric Group, including senior vice president global internal communications and senior vice president global strategy M&A and marketing. She also spent 16 years working at American Power Conversion.
The University of Western Australia has made former Finance Minister Mathias Cormann an adjunct professor in its business school. Mr Cormann was a Western Australian senator from 2007 to 2020 and served as finance minister from 2013 to 2020. He will be a guest speaker at MBA masterclasses, give special lectures in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and offer support to academic researchers.
Jennifer Kirk has joined the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation as director of priority sector development. Ms Kirk most recently worked as an associate director at Cannings Purple. Prior to her stint at the communications firm, she worked at the Commonwealth Treasury Perth office and at the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Sam Algar will be group executive exploration and subsurface and Thomas Nador has been promoted to group executive development at Beach Energy. Mr Algar has more than 25 years’ experience in the energy industry and most recently worked for Oil Search as senior vice president subsurface and exploration. Mr Nador previously worked as general manager, WA development, representing Beach Energy in the Waitsia joint venture.
