Miriam Stanborough has been appointed chair of the Minerals Research Institute of Western Australia, succeeding Denise Goldsworthy. With a current position at Monadelphous, Ms Stanborough has more than 20 years’ experience working for mining and mining services companies including Iluka Resources and Alcoa of Australia. Hailey Adams-Packer, who works at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, has also joined the board and deputy chair Helen Cook has been reappointed. 

Ashley Woodley has been promoted to audit partner at BDO. After joining BDO in 2007 following the completion of her studies, she became a chartered accountant in 2010 and gained experience in local and international markets in the mining and exploration, manufacturing and oil and gas sectors. 

The Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group has appointed three new members to its board: Perseus Mining commercial director Colin Carson, Perenti Group managing director and chief executive Mark Norwell and International SOS Perth-based manager global risk Joseph Taboni. They replace outgoing board members Bill Turner, Ron Sayers and Grant Pierce. 

Natalie Kam has been made partner of the Lavan family law team. Ms Kam was previously a director family law at Culshaw Miller Lawyers. The firm has also made a number of internal promotions and appointments including Mona Gill as special counsel in corporate and Jeffery Malone as special counsel in reconstruction, recovery and insolvency.

Summit Homes Group has appointed Craig Foster as group operations manager and Mark Liddelow to general manager of the group’s subsidiary business units Backbone Steel, Crest Roofing, Peak Ceilings and Prime Plumbing. Mr Foster was previously worked as state general manager of Plunkett Homes. Prior to his appointment, Mr Liddelow was the general manager at Ross Squire Homes.

Noel Hart has been appointed chair of the Mid West Ports Authority board. Mr Hart will bring maritime and shipping experience to the role, previously having worked as general manager at North West Shelf Shipping Services Company and commissioner of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. Geraldton residents Peter Creek and Kate Watson have been appointed as directors of the board.
