Paul Vogel has been appointed chair of the Western Australian Marine Science Institution. Dr Vogel was chair of Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority from 2007 to 2015 and now works as a special counsel at Cannings Purple and an environmental consultant. He is chair of the national Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment and the Northern Territory EPA and a member of the Northern Territory Planning Commission.
Steve Rowe has been promoted to partner at AVPartners at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr Rowe has worked for AVPartners since 2012 as a technical event manager in sales and was promoted to associate in 2018. Ben Hamblin has been made an associate at the organisation. Mr Hamblin began at the company in 2011 as a trainee technician before moving through the ranks to technical director in 2014.
Miramar Underwriting Agency has opened a new office in Perth and appointed Grant Bowen as state manager Western Australia. Mr Bowen brings more than 20 years of insurance experience to Miramar, having held underwriting roles with Allianz and Ansvar.
Kaylene Gulich has been appointed to the VenuesWest board. Ms Gulich has over 19 years’ experience in the public service in fiscal management, economic advice, asset management and policy development and is the chief executive at WA Treasury Corporation. She replaces outgoing board member Robert Kennedy who had served on the board since 2015.
Rob Cossart will be the chief executive at the Wheatbelt Development Commission and Tym Duncanson has been made chief executive at the Gascoyne Development Commission. Mr Cossart is the director of the Northern Region and of the Northern Agricultural Development at the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. Mr Duncanson has acted as chief executive at the Gascoyne Development Commission since March 2019. He previously led the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Land and Water Development team.
Victory Mines has appointed Robert Mosig as its technical and marketing consultant. Mr Mosig is a geologist with over 40 years of technical and marketing experience in mining and exploration and was previously the founding managing director of Helix Resources.
The Western Australian Fishing Industry Council Inc has welcomed Murray Criddle as chair. Mr Criddle served in WA state parliament from 1993 to 2008 and was appointed chair of the Mid West Development Commission in 2009. Paul Catalano, Wayne Scheggia and Gary Morgan have also been appointed as directors.
The state government has appointed former state government minister and senior police officer Bob Kucera to lead the Combat Sport Commission. Mr Kucera served as a member of state parliament from 2001-2008, when he held a number of portfolios including Sport and Recreation. He replaces Cassandra Wright who held the role since June 2017.
Richard Gregson and Jane Chiang have joined the Perth practice of Walker Wayland WA as directors, taking over from Joe Lamhut who will now hold a special consulting role in the company. Mr Gregson is a chartered accountant who worked for PwC for 20 years and now co-leads Indigenous Business Solutions. Ms Chiang is also a chartered accountant who joined Walker Wayland ten years ago and has worked her way up the ranks.
