PYC Therapeutics has named Sue Fletcher chief scientific officer. Ms Fletcher has worked with the company since 2019, responsible for its lead program targeting a form of retinitis pigmentosa. She has more than 25 years’ experience in RNA therapeutics, and her work has led to the development of a number of FDA-approved drugs, including one to treat Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 

Henry van der Westhuizen has been promoted to the position of associate at Murfett Legal. Mr van der Westhuizen joined the firm in October 2018 as a lay associate. Prior to this appointment, he worked as a solicitor in South Africa and Australia, at firms including Van Der Meer Attorneys and Kemp & Associates.

Telethon Speech & Hearing has appointed Alec O'Connell as board chair, succeeding Australian Institute of Management WA chief executive Gary Martin, who has held the position for the past four years. Dr O'Connell is the headmaster at Scotch College and chair of the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia and the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia WA Branch, a member of the Independent Schools Council of Australia, and a member of the UWA Business School Ambassadorial Committee.

Louise-Marlena Tarrier has been appointed chief executive of Carbon Neutral Charitable Fund. Ms Tarrier has a background in accounting, having worked for companies in the marine engineering and automotive sectors, including serving as chief financial officer at Eberspaecher. Five years ago, she decided to move to the not-for-profit sector and began as chief financial officer at conservation group TreeSisters.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Western Australia has appointed Danielle Norrish as executive manager, development and partnerships. Ms Norrish previously worked at Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA as executive director elect, as Minderoo Foundation’s portfolio adviser for building community and COVID-19 community response, and spent eight years as the state manager for The Communications Council.

Georgia Cameron has been hired as national communications manager for land developer Satterley Property Group. Ms Cameron has been working in communications for more than 20 years in Perth and Sydney. She has worked at agencies including Blackie McDonald and Mango Communications, and her own firm, Inspire PR. Ms Cameron’s role sits within the executive management team.
