Robert Solomon is joining Curtin University as professor of practice in mining automation and data analysis at the Western Australian School of Mines in Kalgoorlie. The appointment is in partnership with Fortescue Metals Group, where Dr Solomon previously worked as operations improvement manager. In his new role, Dr Solomon will lead a team looking into the operational efficiency of the company’s autonomous mining operations.

Darren Leslie and Tam Emin are the new business owners of Ray White in Albany. The duo took control of the office on August 10, with Mr Leslie focusing on sales, and Ms Emin on property management. The pair previously worked for Wellington & Reeves in Albany, alongside Rhett Bull who is also joining the Ray White team.

Matador Mining has hired Warren Potma. Most recently, Mr Potma worked as the principal geologist for CSA Global where he provided consulting services to international mining companies. He previously held positions at Hot Chili, Silver Swan Group/Caravel Minerals and CSIRO.

Tony Greenaway will be Latin Resources new head of exploration. Mr Greenaway has more than 23 years’ experience in operations in Australia, Africa, South America, Central America and Asia. For the past three years, he has worked as manager of geology at Talisman Mining.
