Vantage Wealth Management has appointed Ben Devenish as managing director. Mr Devenish has 25 years’ experience in wealth management, eight of which he spent at Shadforth Financial Group. In 2018 he studied at an executive course at London Business School and has most recently been consulting in the wealth management industry.
Churchill Consulting performance improvement team lead David Lynch has been internally promoted to director. Jeremy Calver has been appointed manager and Frank Daly has been hired as a senior consultant in the performance and operational improvement team. Gaurav Jain is joining the company as a senior consultant in the digital transformation area.
Mental health commissioner Timothy Marney has resigned from his role after five years. Mr Marney, a 40under40 winner in 2008, said he was leaving his position to achieve better work-life balance. He will step down from the position in June 2019. During his time as commissioner, Mr Marney developed the 10-year Plan for Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drug Services.
Metrix Consulting has appointed Caroline Goldie as business director. Ms Goldie spent the past eight years working at Kantar Public in consulting roles and as associate director. She has gained experience in agencies and in-house to become a strategy and insights director while working at GlaxoSmithKline, PepsiCo and Taylor Nelson Sofres.
Boyd Timler has joined Panoramic Resources as chief operating officer. Mr Timler has 35 years’ experience in mining at senior and operator levels. Prior to this appointment he was chief executive at Medusa Mining. Mr Timler has also worked at Beadell Resources, Barrick Gold Corporation, Placer Dome, Kinross Gold Corporation, TVX Gold Inc and Royal Oak Mines.
Sharon Warburton has been appointed an adjunct professor of the Curtin University Faculty of Business and Law. Ms Warburton has worked in Perth, Sydney, London and Abu Dhabi for Rio Tinto, Citigroup, Wellard, Multiplex and Western Power. She is a now non-executive company director for Fortescue Metals Group, WorleyParsons, Gold Road Resources and NEXTDC.
Perth businessman John Poynton has joined agribusiness company Alterra’s advisory board as its founding chair. Mr Poynton, who is on the Future Fund board of guardians, chairman of Strike Energy, Sapien Cyber, Jindalee Partners and Giving West, is the advisory board’s first appointment. The advisory board will support Alterra by providing access to networks, strategic feedback, analysis on opportunities and risks and introductions to potential deals and sources of capital.
Kenneth Williams is joining the Finder Energy board as a non-executive director. Mr Williams has served as deputy chair and chair of AWE and has worked for Renison Goldfields, Qantas, Normandy Mining and Newmont Australia. Finder Energy chairman Jan Ostby said Mr Williams would bring new strategic and financial capability to the company as it sought to capitalise on its large North West Shelf portfolio.
CBH Group has appointed member director Simon Stead as deputy chairman of its board. Mr Stead is replacing Vern Dempster, who has been deputy chairman since April 2013 and chose not to renominate for the position. Mr Stead, who has been a member director of the CBH board since 2015 and is the CBH appointed representative on the Co-operatives WA Council, runs a mixed cropping, sheep and cattle operation in Cascade and Dalyup in the Esperance port zone.
