Aviva appoints Iannello to board ENERGY company Aviva Corporation Ltd has appointed Tony Iannello as non-executive director. Mr Iannello currently holds a number of board positions, including director of ASX-listed SP Austnet Stapled Group of Companies and HBF Group, and chairman of the Kailis Group. Mr Iannello was managing director and CEO of Western Power until April 2006 Kiernan, Simpson quit board CHAIRMAN Micheal Kiernan (pictured) and non-executive director Andrew Simpson have resigned from the board of Windimurra Vanadium Ltd. Both claimed that the decision was due to increasing work commitments. Mathews to head department JENNY Mathews has been appointed director general of the Department of Local Government and Regional Development. Ms Mathews is currently the state manager of the Australian Trade Commission, a position she has held since January 2003. Prior to this, Ms Mathews was a legal consultant with Freehills in Perth. From 1997-2002, Ms Mathews was the director at the Western Australian state office of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Birchmore appointed at UMC ALAN Birchmore has been re-appointed to the board of United Minerals Corporation NL as an independent nonexecutive director. Mr Birchmore has occupied senior board positions with a number of Australian listed companies, including St Barbara Mines Ltd and Mermaid Marine Australia Ltd. Azure executive directors Azure Capital has appointed Adam Rankine- Wilson and Alec Pismiris as executive directors. Mr Rankine-Wilson and Mr Pismiris are former directors of Capital Investment Partners, a boutique corporate advisory firm focused primarily on advising the resources sector. HHG family law moves Heather Nichols and Loretta Caré have been appointed to the family law team at the HHG Legal Group as family law counsel and senior solicitor respectively. Ms Nichols, who will be based in the firm’s Albany office, and Ms Caré, who will be working from the West Perth office, join HHG from Hammond Worthington. Tapper Covenant Finance CEO Commercial Property specialist Covenant Finance has appointed Don Tapper as chief executive officer. Mr Tapper has more than 30 years of experience in both commercial and property development finance. Midland Brick appointment Midland Brick has appointed Claire Ridley as marketing coordinator. Ms Ridley previously worked as marketing coordinator at Burswood Entertainment Complex. Downings appoints Handcock Downings Legal has appointed Matthew Handcock as a consultant. Mr Handcock has a range of experience in commercial litigation matters, including professional indemnity and commercial insurance, and advising local government. GESB sales, service manager GESB has appointed Robyn Taylor as manager of retail sales and service. Ms Taylor has held senior management positions at Mercer, Watson Wyatt, and Nobles Lowndes. White to ageing centre Christianne White has been appointed business development manager at the WA Centre for Health and Ageing, based at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR). Xabregas Wines ambassador Xabregas Wines has appointed Andre Cannavo as account manager and brand ambassador. Mr Cannavo has more than 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry working as account manager for Xanadu Wines and Abbey Vale. New faces at FerrAus ASX-listed FerrAus Limited has appointed Fergus O’Connor as financial controller. Mr O’Connor most recently was manger, corporate advisory services with HLB Mann Judd. Tony Marron has been appointed manager, corporate and strategic planning, responsible for investor relations, having previously fulfilled this role on secondment from the company’s largest shareholder, the Penfold Group. PPR welcomes Aitken PPR has appointed Ebony Aitken as a senior consultant. Ms Aitken previously held the position of communications coordinator of the communications and corporate relations team at Burswood Entertainment Complex. Interstaff expands Sheila Woods has been appointed manager of the major client services division of Interstaff Recruitment Ltd. Merridy Parr joins Interstaff with an academic and legal service background, most recently as a legislation and policy adviser for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
