Rio Tinto has awarded $45 million in new railway signalling and communications contracts to international rail infrastructure group Ansaldo STS.
The contract is the second under a framework agreement established between the two companies in November this year, and will entail the delivery of railway signalling and communications for the Hope Downs 4 iron ore project in the Pilbara.
The framework agreement will span over the next five years, with an anticipated value of more than $467 million.
Ansaldo has been designing and delivering railway signalling and transportation solutions for Rio in WA since 1992.
