Ampella Mining has announced the departure of company chairman and director Bill Ryan but the African-focused miner has given no reason for his resignation.
He had been on the board since September 2008.
Mr Ryan has extensive experience in the mining sector and was President of AMEC for five years, a Councillor of the WA Chamber on Minerals and Energy for two years and an inaugural Councillor of the Australian Gold Council.
He is currently the chairman of Brumby Resources.
Mr Ryan previously held directorships at Vital Metals, Gindalbie Metals and Jupiter Mines.
He holds two million shares in Ampella.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, Ampella recognised Mr Ryan's contribution to the company and wished him well.
The company said it is considering a number of candidates for the position of chairman.
