Amity eases way

Perth-based Amity Oil NL has paved the way for a smoother gas operation on the Whicher Range permit in the South West.

The company’s purchase for US$1.1 million of US-based Pennzoil Exploration Australia’s 44.1 per cent assets in the permit will give Amity a 65.1 per cent holding in Whicher Range and 56.3 per cent of the adjacent exploration permit 381.

The other participant is GeoPetro Resources Co.

Amity managing director Peter Allchurch said the purchase would reduce policy differences and delays “which have slowed project progress significantly”.
