Alliance Aviation Services has extended its contract for the provision of its services to Hong Kong-based CITIC Pacific Mining’s Sino Iron project in the Pilbara.

ASX-listed Alliance, which primarily operates fly-in, fly-out charter services, will provide its services to Citic for a further 12 months while the mining company completes construction of a new airport/airstrip at Cape Preston.

Alliance also told the market today that it expects to formalise a five-year contract with Citic for the provision of air charter services into Cape Preston when the airport becomes operational.

“We are very proud of this extension as it provides great acknowledgement of our ability to provide Citic with a safe, reliable, cost-effective service,” Alliance chief executive Lee Schofield said.

“I would also like to acknowledge the contribution of our team in Western Australia where we have established permanent regional offices with dedicated aircraft, crew and maintenance facilities.”

Alliance has been providing its services to Citic since 2009.

Shares in Alliance closed 5.7 per cent higher to 74 cents each.
