ALAN Barnett took on the role of managing director at CJD Equipment just two months before the GFC.
The GFC was the biggest setback to his career, but with guidance from the board and a creative flair for developing strategies, he managed to steer the national construction equipment and trucks distributor through it profitably.
It’s also a testament to his work ethic (instilled by his father) and the “back your talk” attitude that Mr Barnett was able to steer through the GFC, with the company now planning a state-of-the-art facility in Port Hedland and improvements to its Guildford branch.
Headquartered in Perth, CJD employs around 500 people nationally, with 220 of those in Western Australia.
Mr Barnett is proud of the company’s dedication to training young people, with CJD a registered training organisation that employs more than 80 apprentices nationally and 20 sales and parts cadets.
