Air Liquide awarded Woodside contract

Frankfurt-headquartered Air Liquide Engineering and Construction has won a major contract from Woodside Energy to design and manufacture liquification equipment at its proposed liquid hydrogen production facility in Oklahoma.

Air Liquide will provide the engineering and fabrication of two 30 tonne-per-day liquefaction units which will liquify electrolysis-produced hydrogen.

The liquified hydrogen will be prepared for storage, loading and transportation to customers.

Woodside chief executive Meg O'Neill said the contract was a significant milestone for H2OK.

She said the front-end engineering design activities were targeted to be completed this year.

“We are aiming to develop our New Energy business in the United States,” Ms O'Neill said.

“The signing of the contract for liquefaction equipment is another important step forward in advancing H2OK, which would be our first producing hydrogen facility globally.

“H2OK would produce hydrogen for use as a fuel for commercial and heavy transport, supporting customers’ chosen decarbonisation pathways.”

Woodside is targeting a final investment decision for H2OK in 2023.

The global energy giant is also working on proposed hydrogen projects in Australia with H2Perth and HSTAS.

Woodside Energy shares traded at $36.27 at market close, up 2.66 per cent.
