A WESTERN Australian Department of Agriculture project that
increased the profitability and sustainability of the Kimberley Aboriginal
pastoral industry has received a note of congratulation from the United
Nations.
The project, created by project officer Kim Carter, helped a
Kimberley Aboriginal community to improve standards of animal husbandry, herd
productivity and level of number, value and quality that complies with
statutory and regulatory requirements.
It also brought pride and self-sufficiency to the community.
Mr Carter won a StateWest Achievement Award for his efforts
last year and he has been shortlisted for a Churchill Fellowship to study
similar programs overseas.
