THE Department of Agriculture has won a national award for its achievements in greening its vehicle fleet.
The Australian Fleet Management Certificate of Energy Best Practice – Vehicle Fleet Award recognised the department’s efforts to continuously improve the efficiency of its vehicle fleet, lower vehicle costs and reduce the fleet’s impact on the environment.
Over the past three years the department’s fleet has been reduced by 17 per cent, annual fuel consumption has dropped by 220,000 litres and the number of dual fuel-LPG vehicles in the fleet has increased from zero to 43.
The department was the only Western Australian organisation to receive the award.
