Listed telco Datafast Telecommunications has continued its run of acquisitions with the announcement it has bought the businesses of the Melbourne-based Affinity ISP Group.
The Affinity acquisition will add 12,000 active accounts to Datafast, which owns the EFTel brand.
The Affinity ISP Group operates several brands, including Bigfoot and Affinity Internet.
In an Australian Stock Exchange announcement, EfTel chief executive officer Simon Ehrenfeld said the acquisition represented: “A further expansion of Datafast’s strong position in the Victorian market, taking the number of accounts in the state to about 50,000.
“Datafast now has 120,000 active accounts nationally and continues its strong drive towards industry consolidation.
“Merger talks with Chariot Ltd are proceeding in pursuit of the same objective, which is value through scale.”
In August this year, Datafast acquired Bunbury’s largest local ISP, OzzieNet Pty Ltd, adding 4,000 clients and a large reseller network.
The announcement followed another acquisition on June 3 when the company acquired Mandurah-based ISP, TIK.
