ANZ Advertised Job Vacancies
THE ANZ Bank's seasonally adjusted count of job vacancies advertised in WA newspapers fell by 1.6 per cent in May from its 15-year high in April. Vacancies have nonetheless risen by 6 per cent in the past three months, and increased by 27.7 per cent through the year to May 2004.
Nationally, vacancies advertised in newspapers fell by 2.8 per cent between April and May, to stand 5.6 per cent higher than in May 2003. However, Internet job advertisements rose by 4.9 per cent to average more than 100,000 a week, and the combined total of Internet and newspaper advertisements rose by 3.4 per cent over the month and by 40.3 per cent through the year to May 2004.
