A peak mining industry group hopes a new website will help the sector find workers to fill the thousands of jobs created by the mining boom.
The Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA) has activated miningoilandgasjobs.com, to connect Australians with job opportunities in the mining boom.
The AMMA said an ANZ Bank-Port Jackson Partners report forecast the resources boom could create 750,000 jobs in the next 20 years.
AMMA director Minna Knight said the website was already being used by workers who had lost their job in other sectors, with employers having begun posting job vacancies on the site.
BHP Billiton recently said it had 1,500 job vacancies that sacked BlueScope Steel workers could fill.
Miningoilandgasjobs.com will provide information about employment, career planning, migration, and training and development in the resources sector.
The AMMA said it developed the site in the wake of the National Resource Sector Employment Taskforce (NRSET) report that highlighted how dire the skills shortage would be unless government and industry groups acted.
