AHG wants Higer rights

Perth-based vehicle retailer Automotive Holdings Group has announced plans to acquire distribution rights for Higer buses in Australia off the current distributor, which is in administration.

AHG has entered into negotiations with the administrators of WMC to acquire the business and thus own the distribution rights for China-founded Higer buses nation-wide.

Higer has 13 dealerships in Australia, one of which is located in Western Australia.

WMC was placed into voluntary administration on October 2.

“AHG has had an association with Higer as an important partner to WMC and, with a number of new products being brought to market, we see significant growth potential in the brand,” AHG managing director Bronte Howson said.

“Higer produces a range of quality buses that are suitable for the local market as we build the brand’s reputation and sales.

“That outcome will also benefit existing and future customers of Higer in Australia.”

AHG shares rose 3.1 per cent to $3.96 each at 12:30pm.
