A yen for better days

HOW’S this for an economic indicator? The Note hears the Australian Institute of Company Directors concluded it was best to postpone its May conference in Tokyo due to current economic conditions, including the strengthening yen, which would have significantly increased costs to delegates attending. “Member feedback indicated that while Tokyo was a desirable venue, the prudent decision would be to reschedule the 2009 Conference,” the AICD told members. “While the financial impact on Australian organisations remains uncertain, the AICD believes a more cost-effective location for the 2009 Conference may be preferable.”
